Buzz’ AOC was valid for the 733 and the 146. This license is only valid while Ryanair operates those planes. When Ryanair retires them the license will loose its validity after I believe 1 year or so.

I think the reason Ryanair holds on to its Buzz license (at least for now) is so it can operate the 733. After all, Ryanair still uses at least some of the Buzz 73s.

If Ryanair had cancelled the Buzz AOC it would have to extend its own AOC to include the 733. This likely won’t be a problem but does cost some money. Since Ryanair already has a valid license that costs nothing to keep Ryanair would be silly not to use it.

valid point Mark, i would hope they may put a few on the UK AOC to keep the legend of buzz alive!

I’m not sure about the AOC, but I don’t think it depends on keeping the planes. It’s like a license. If you had a driving licesne, it doesn’t matter if you drive a different car to the one you began with. I think that Ryanair can still kep the AOC, but not necessarily stay with the same aircraft. Anyone know any better?

However FR want an all B738 fleet, so at some point soon they are going to want to get rid of those horrible B733s (Especially the ex CO ones), where would this leave Buzz’s AOC?

Ir Uk did correctly become KLM UK the UK fedder arm of KLM, and with this lost many domestic routes to concentrate on flight to AMS. KLM UK in 1999 looked into forming a LCC, with BAe 146-300s that they were looking to use elsewhere as the feeder routes were to be operated with only FK50s AND 100s, and it was about this time the ATRs were also dropped.

In the last couple of years KLM UK was absorbed into KLM Cityhopper as KLM Cityhopper UK with aircraft retaining G-, reggies, then finally the aircraft have appeared on the PH reg as part of KLM Cityhopper.

Buzz was sold off in 2003 to Ryanair, but continued to (and still does) operated as Buzz Stansted Ltd, having retired its BAe 146-300 fleet of 4 aircraft in early Jan, to continue operating with B733 aircraft on the G-BZZ range. Ryanair i believe will contiu to operate this as a seperate entity as a way of keeping the seperate AOC of Buzz Stansted Ltd.
