Aitcraft type help please…….

Just booked BHX-ALC on 26-6-4.

Flight number BA1920

Cant check a/c type on BA.com as it is a charter and James Villas don’t know the type either.

Seeing as BA only operate regional jets and 146/Avro’s from BHX does anybody know what type they will be “shipping in” to operate the charters for the summer????

Many thanks.

Maybe if your lucky BA will bring back Concorde and fly them on charters between Birmingham and Alicante wouldnt that be great.:D

Probably don’t have a record of charters. I will speak to some people tonight who might though 😉

Got a mail from BA after enquiring about the flight saying they have no record of flight BA1920 to Alicante 😮

Looks like either they don’t have access to charter movements or it’s a long walk to Alicante!!!!! 😀

I depends on the aircraft they have a vailable, which in turn depends on the day of the week. For example, less scheduled flights are carried out during the weekend which enables them to charter them instead. It also depends on who charters the flight and how many seats they want in there, for example.
It could be that the type is not defined yet. Maybe they’ll have to wait untill all hotels/seats are fully booked for that date, as far as is possible.

Yep, the plane will be chartered by Firstchoice but they will offer it out to the smaller agents (Like James Villas) if they have remaining space and try to get some more money out of it.
James Villas should know, if they don’t they will ask firstchoice for you.

Bought it through James Villas, as we don’t do the typical “package tour” we like our own private villa with pool.

Looking on BHX.co.uk though, it seems BA1920 is chartered through the first choice group.

Will probably do yes, but if you have bought it through firstchoice then maybe not. Best speak to the travel agent.

BTW does this mean the flight will be operated out of T2 “eurohub” instead of T1 ?

Seeing the typo error in the thread title I may now need to change the name to “I go Avro 2″….:D

The flights to Innsbruck and Chambrey operating from NCL, DUB, BOH etc in the winter operate using 737s positioned from LGW, something along the lines of LGW-NCL-INN-NCL-LGW, or LGW-CFM-BOH-CFM-LGW.
However where BA have based aircraft (Not DUB, NCL, BOH etc) like BHX or LGW they will use the based aircraft. At LGW that will be a straight forward LGW-INN-LGW.
At BHX as you have rightly said they only have RJ100s and ERJ145s. In the summer charter programme the ERJ145s usualy fly on charters to Jersey, and the RJ100s everywhere else.
If the charter is particularly full, like this winter on flights from BHX to Turin, 2 RJ100s will operate. Its cheaper doing it that way than bringing in a plane from LGW (They never do it with LHR based planes so won’t be a 757/767/320/319, and a 777 on a summer charter is a bit ridiculous.
Most likely you will be on an RJ100, but if you are travelling with other people and you have not booked the tickets together then if there are 2 planes going they will both run under the same flightnumber but not callsign, so it is possible you won’t fly together.
Hope this helps,
Mark

I was supposed to go from BHX-AGP with BA, until the flight got cancelled. That was down to be an A319.

All BA charter flights on on either an E145 or an Avro RJ100 although it is mostly the RJs that do charters.

This is gonna be an Avro RJ. I was at LEI in August, and there was also a BA Avro RJ100 there. I think it was operating to Madrid.

educated guess. i doubt they’d fill 767’s .777’s is a definate no same as 737’s, 747’s and the airbus family so i reckon the 757
