Alaska Air Fuel DC-4 overruns runway -Badly damaged (10th Oct)

The world’s airworthy DC-4 (C-54)  population is reduced to just one (!) after the accident in Alaska. On 10 October, Alaska Air Fuel’s sole aircraft, Douglas DC-4 N96358, overran the runway at Yakataga (AK). The 1944-vintage aircraft sustained severe damage to it’s nose section.

Statements like that make me realise how old I now am. I can remember a time  when DC-3/4/6/7s were ten a penny at UK airports. But that was half a century ago.
