The World War I Aviation Heritage trust have announced that an Albatros DVa, from Oliver Wulff’s collection and a Sopwith Snipe will be arriving in the UK sometime this Spring for events and airshows.
A “provisional programme includes appearances at 8 Squadron’s Centenary at Waddington, Abingdon, Bicester Heritage (for several events), Chalke Valley, Old Warden, RIAT and The Goodwood Revival at the end of the event season.”

Here is my Album covering Albatros DVa-1 ZK-TGY at Omaka Classic Fighters airshow 2015.
Kermit Weeks (who has an earlier TVAL DVa-1) came over to fly ZK-TGY at the show.

Note that the Kickstarter to operate this aircraft, a Sopwith Snipe replica and an SE5a replica in the UK for the 2015 season was unsuccessful.

‘All the aircraft are late-model originals and have to be seen to be believed ‘ -that’s a new way of describing them!

Surprised to have not seen the Kickstarter link posted on here yet, been running for about a week:

I put together a short post outlining what the trust has planned for the coming season, should funds be met:

Hopefully the money can be raised and the trust can continue thier great work!

Interesting about Humber in the RAFM Snipe. Did anyone ever check the engine makers plate on Snipe E8102, that’s ZK-SBT & N6318S of the Weeks collection.

Robert have you been taking lessons from Twin Otter? 😀
It worked! Just chipped in to the Strutter rebuild.

Not wishing to detract from the fantastic work on WW1 era aircraft being undertaken in New Zealand remember Northern Aircraft Workshop and the still going APSS Sopwith 1 1/2 Strutter project in Scotland.

Humber Ltd. of Coventry built BR.1 and BR.2 engines – in fact the BR.2 in the RAFM Snipe has a Humber plate on it.

If you check out the Wahts website the shift of those aircraft to Bicester might be permanent.
On something different. On the Snipe ZK-SNI, the Bentley engine has a Gwynnes Ltd makers plate. Did Gwynnes make all the BR2 engines?

whats happening at Stowe Maries? is it still happening?
I haven’t been there since November, but they were I believe in the process of putting another hangar up.
I’ve no idea how that is progressing. Maybe something on their website ?

Yes, with the engine used by the R.E.8, and probably other changes.

That DH-4 looks amazing! The attention to detail in these reproductions is incredible! Am I right in thinking that the BE.12 is the single seat version of the BE.2?

The options are endless. Be nice to see some interwar types emerge as well. Dh9a? Gloster Gamecock? Pr how about some of the Sopwith one offs?
Having an original to work off is much preferred. I did manage a peek at the new De Havilland America DH-4, and B.E.12 (and new B.E.2c a couple along in the Flickr set linked)

Thanks ErrolC (and Stan Smith for the humour) a reproduction, running BR.2 will look the same as a real one and, presumably, will sound the same.
I am in awe of what has gone on in New Zealand and am hoping to get the book to ‘read all abaaht it’ before too long.
Never have so few brought so much pleasure to so many in such a short time.

TVAL aeroplanes are amazing. Who knows they might start building twin engined WW1 Aircraft – can you imagine a Gotha at Old Warden 🙂
…or an 0/400…

RPSmith, Shame on you!! Do you really think TVAL would put anything but the proper engine in ??
“Can’t lay my hand on one, so, b—– it! We will just have to Reproduce one”
As one does.
Sorry, a bit tongue-in-cheek re above but that is what TVAL do. Absolutely wonderful

Especially if it has got a Bentley BR.2 hauling it along – anybody know what engine it has?
Of the two Snipes currently registered to TVAL in NZ, ZK-SNI (“F2367”) has an original BR.2, while ZK-SBY (above) has a TVAL new-build BR.2. If the “planned for a Sopwith Snipe to come over from NZ with the Albatros” machine is a currently unknown one (and we are watching the NZ register especially carefully), a new-build BR.2 seems most likely.
