Hi, im going to Alicante in April just wondering what the airport is like and if there is much traffic.

As already said, it’s a fairly big airport with plenty going on. Good views from the departures and plenty of viewing points around the airport. In the departures area, there is a small display cabinet giving a history of the airport – something rarely seen at a UK airport. Have a good trip – I quite like it down there.

It’s quite a large airport. It’s had a lot of work done over the past few years. A lot of scheduled airlines and charters. They have (had) a long haul service to Bogotá with Avianca and handle 9 million passengers a year, which I think makes it one of the biggest Spanish airports, after Madrid-Barajas, Barcelona, Palma and Málaga. It’s one of the top 50 busiest in Europe.

Also called ” El Altet ” or originally named that.
