Hi all,
I am new to the KP forums but I thought I would start my first post with a plea for a couple of bits of information. I have just finished reading Sigh For A Merlin and there is mention of Alex Henshaw filming a piece for Ferry Pilot in Radcliffe. Alex does not elaborate on this but a map near the start of the book shows Radcliffe in greater Manchester. However, I am not aware of there ever being any airfield in the town so it is possible that Alex meant Radcliffe on Trent and the publishers made an assumption with the map. Does anyone have any information that would clear this up?
The second query is also local-based as I am trying to pin down dates for two stray bomb incidents in Bury, Lancashire. One was at Chesham Fields where the craters still exist and the other was near to the Hark To Dandler pub on Walmersley Old Road. Neither incident caused casualties unlike the accidental bombing of Jericho Hospital, which is better documented. Does anyone have any dates? The year would be useful so that I can follow up in the local rag archives.
Thanks

The Filming was at the old Leicester Aero Club base – RATCLIFFE.

A further plea for information if any contributors can help please? Does anyone know of 1940 bombing raids on Manchester, particularly during October?
