As a big fan of both universes, I really sincerely hope that Paul Anderson doesn’t screw it up, but I have a horrible feeling that he will.
For starters, the PG-13 rating. 😡

Scream like a girl and run for the hills! Paul ‘Can’t-write-for-shiat, but-married-to-the-hot-Milla-Jovovich’ Anderson is penning Alien 6.
Gah.

Wow, this thread is still going! Amazing.
Well, hopefully they will hand off AvP2 to a more competent director.
James Cameron? 🙂
He has been quiet lately.

Unfortunately I have to agree with Harry to a point. It was ok, but NOT great. Could have been done so much better! Another inaccurate detail was the Alien’s blood. It is supposed to oxidise after death and become harmless, but it wasn’t. It was still able to burn even long after the Aliens had been killed. This fact was established in the second movie Aliens.
I enjoyed watching it simply because it had my two favourite big screen aliens in battle, but otherwise it just didn’t really grab me at all. 🙁

Alright, I’m back from seeing the worst, crappiest, ****tiest, most pathetic, most disgusting, most embarrassing, most ridiculous, most criminal movie ever made. If you are an A and P fan, stay away from this pile of trash. Can’t totally blame Paul “Worth S-h-i-t” Anderson totally but the f*ckfaces at Fox who actually gave this project to that fool who has proven in the past that he could’nt direct nor write nor do anything for nuts.
It did’nt even feel like a real movie but a bunch of lousy scenes glued together to make no sense. And when the try to explain the story and history – uuuuhhh!!! It does’nt even deserve to be called a spoof. If half the audience was’nt asleep, the rest were laughing their asses off.
“Slow motion” facehugger and other attacks – WTF??? Why did’nt he throw in a Matrix camera style too?
Predator’s face – Looks like a lousy paintjob. You can actually make out the human actor’s face!
Good Predator – Eh, why did’nt the beeyatch just cry or howl “Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo……” when he died????? Would have at least had humor value.
Story – Nonexistant. At the end, the main character gets ditched at a place where she herself says is “1000 miles” from any civilization. Now how is that spear gonna help the situation?
Lies – Remember WS farting about how he’ll reintro the species and how Predator-2 was’nt good because the Pred came in too early? AvP just proves that PWSA is the ultimate hyprocrite to ever exist.
I can’t possibly imagine how this could be either action or horror? It is too poor to belong in the humor category. Everything happens too fast and the alien lifecycle is about a few minutes. A total piece of crap that I could’nt have possibly imagined to be this bad. It’s a good thing that they did’nt have a simultaneous worldwide release and we had already expected it to be bad but not this crap! Given the rather impressive props, a 15 year old could have made a better movie.
This has to be expected from jobless fanboys trying to conjure up their own BS and fantasies. In case you meet one, do us all a favour and immolate any geek trying to write any “fanfiction” of a movie/cartoon/concept/anything.

AvP is about to open here in Australia, and I will see it this week. 🙂
It has grossed $79,502,544 after 7 weeks so far in the US. Let’s see how long it will be showing down here.

You guys won’t believe this, but Milla Jovovich is engaged to Paul W.S Anderson.
I actually liked the original Resident Evil- it wasn’t that original, but it was fun. RE: Apocalypse looks pretty fun too.

Since it was budgeted at like 60 million, that’s not bad considering it isn’t out worldwide yet, and it came out here in one of the statistically worst times for movies.

Over $70 million grossed in the US now, after 3-4 weeks in release.

No, I’ve progressed to music this time 😀

SOC, your sig. Is this another movie quote?

For some reason I can’t access that website
Regardless, I put no stock in what Peter Briggs, someone who was not involved in the film, has to say.

Here’s a new interview with Peter Briggs, who claimed that Paul WSA does not have a director’s cut, that all the scenes in the movie were pretty much there.

I see AvP has grossed in excess of 60 million in the US already. 🙂

A small dark side thriller like the first film? I wonder if it would ever have as much impact on the box office as a blockbuster action flick like the second film? Probably not. Sorry, but I can’t see what Weaver wants happening.

Sigourney Weaver interested in doing another sequel!

A movie not doing all that well in the US doesn’t mean it won’t have a sequel. Alien 3 and Alien 4 did pretty well overseas and actually ended up making a nice bit of money, but they both did pretty much bomb here.

More than likely given the strong opening weekend for AVP. Even if it tails off in the US (should be around $12 million this weekend) it’ll still do well overseas. If it makes in the area of $140 million total, I’d say another Alien or Predator movie is a good bet, since the budget for this one was $60 million. If you can make a movie and make a decent return (and not earn less than you spent making it), then sequels usually do happen.
Don’t forget DVD and video rentals too! Hellboy only made in its domestic budget here in the states, and they’re already planning a sequel.
Speaking of which, there are already rumors of an AvP sequel in the works.

Yeah but Weaver has been hinting at another Alien film for ages now… Will it happen?
