I’m flying out to Milan Malpensa from Heathrow on the 15th to go skiing in Zermatt. I’m flying Alitalia, MD-80 out, A321 back, are they any good? And what’s the food like 😛
What’s your general feedback on Alitalia?
Cheers,
Martin

RE: Alitalia?
I haven’t flown with them for a decade or so, but my fiancee flew FCO-LIN and was not very impressed to say the least.
It was a fairly new A321 but the staff were uniformly surly. Food was average, no cause for complaint. We both flew LIN-FCO for a day trip to Rome, a few days later. We took Air One, which is supposedly a lowcost airline. Apart from not using jetties, she said they were noticeably better than AZ.
She also says AZ stopped flying to Australia, becasue of lack of passengers, due to a reputation for rude cabin crew!

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 04-02-03 AT 04:44Â PM (GMT)]I travelled Alitalia a couple of years back to Venice on an MD82. The flight was ok,but the seats were uncomfortable and the food was not that great. The cabin crew were quite friendly but the staff were very quite rude at the check in desk.I found that the MD82 clean on the inside but it looked very dirty with black marks all over it on the outside.
Enjoy your trip…

RE: Alitalia?
When I have used Alitalia, usually Barcelona – Milan, I have been impressed. The MD80 (Alitalia operate more than any other airline? or perhaps European airline?) always seems very clean and tidy, the cabin staff are pleasant, and the food OK!
Let us know how you find it.
Enjoy your holiday.
