Following the confusion surrounding Air Wales and their 2006 routes, including partnerships with bmibaby, changes from PLH, the disappearance of routes from NWI and the mysterious routes appearing on their low fare finder, I contacted them. Although polite, I made it pretty clear that I wasn’t happy with the lack of communication between them and the public concerning routes. This is the response, which seems alot more professional than thier route develoopment policy is:
Dear Mr Powell
Thank you for your recent email.
Firstly we would like to apologise for any confusion caused, and will
attempt to verify the intended routes for 2006;
Our website is maintained by an external company, and the Manchester and
Leeds Bradford routes were incorrectly entered into the Low Fare Finder
function. This has now been removed; we are sorry for any inconvenience
caused.
Plymouth to Dublin will be cancelled from the 2nd January 2006. We will
operate to Cork from Exeter Airport only after this date.
Services from Norwich to Dublin and Cardiff were discontinued on the
30th October 2005. Norwich Airport has secured a deal with Fly Be to
run the Norwich to Dublin route. As it is not commercially viable for
two airlines to compete on such a niche route, or for Air Wales to
operate a separate Norwich to Cardiff service, we have no option but to
withdraw this important service which we have worked hard to establish
and support.
We currently operate Cardiff to Cork, Belfast International, Paris,
Jersey and Glasgow Prestwick in conjunction with bmi baby. We will
continue to operate Paris in conjunction with bmi baby; however, from
the 26th March, Cardiff to Cork and Cardiff to Jersey will be operated
solely by Air Wales, and seats are now on sale from the 26th March on
the Air Wales website. Cardiff to Belfast and Cardiff to Prestwick will
be operated solely by bmi baby from the 26th March.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your comments.
We appreciate all feedback from our customers since this enables us to
maintain excellent standards of service across all Air Wales flights.
We would like to reiterate our apologies for any inconvenience caused;
the website is in the process of being updated to reflect these service
alterations.
Yours sincerely
Caroline

CWL-LBA
One suspects that Air Southwest would consider this as a viable route, possibly flying Newquay-Cardiff-Leeds/Bradford.

WOW may possibly start CWL-LBA, you never know. Air Wales now appear to be stuck in limbo. Judging by the response and what we already know, they have a pretty solid route network, but without longer range jet aircraft, I can’t really see much scope for expansion.

Hi
Was loooking forward to seeing Air Wales launching routes from LBA to Cardiff and Plymouth with there ATR42’s. Never mind, Maybe next time eh??
Still at least at LBA we still have Air Southwest to Newquay, and Bristol along with connections to Plymouth and Flybe’s services to Exeter.
