All these diverting aircraft.

And another one has happened today. This is number 4 in 8 days.

A singapore airlines flight en route to New York from Frankfurt has diverted to Manchester because of a ‘security alert’.

How much longer can this go on?

Whats happening at the moment….. 3 planes in the space of less that 10 days have been diverted due to bomb threats.
1. Olympic into Stanstead.
2. ??? into Shannon
3. BA into Berlin somewhere.

Do you think that this is all by co-incidence that all these aircraft are being diverted. To be honest it is kind of nerve wracking as I have never recalled more threats in a month let alone just after a week.
My parents come back tomorrow from Palma and when they rang me saying that they are contemplating not getting on the airplane home.
I hope this never happens but sooner or later it wont be a threat it will be real and well have another 9/11 on our hands.

All i am trying to say is, is Airline and Airport security being enhanced at all. After the programme a while back on MAN and how easy it was to get on to those planes at night and that means anyone could place explosives in the plane anywhere.

The second plane to divert was another Olympic Airways A340 on the same route. The BA plane diverted to Amsterdam from Berlin.

My dad was reluctant to go to PMI as a couple of years ago as he went to New York with VS…He had a good flight.Coming back however, once a plane got out there (13 and a half hour delay),….some one declared to have explosives in his shoe (hence why I started this thread also).

I have some worrying thoughts about this.

Firstly hoaxes are tremendously effective at causing panic and chaos. If this happens frequently, then it will cause massive disruption to air traffic and ultimately people may once again thinking about flying.

My worry is that if there is a flood of hoaxes, ‘we’ may get complacement to the warnings and somehwere along the line something real will happen.

I agree its unnerving, especially for the more neurotic amongst us. I go in a couple of days and am more nervy than usual. I will have to take a Diazepam for sure this time!

3 in a week does seem extreme but remember there was nothing sinister found. Hoaxers 😡

In reality alot of people die in car crashes, industrial accidents etc but yet most people travel by car and go to work, we do it so often it seems natural to hurtle along in a car at 70mph but going into an aviation environment seems strange as most people experience it only a few times per year so to weigh it up i’d tell them to hop on the flight and enjoy the view 🙂
