I have asked you lot several questions regarding the Canon 10D over the last few weeks and you always come up with the goods.
This time, it is regarding the rather ‘Flat appearence’ of my final images.
As explained last time, I have recently changed from Minilta film based system to Canon digital. When comparing my final images from Elvington last weekend, against those of my colleague (who uses a poxy little fuji, completely on AUTO), I find that my images are rather flat and lifeless, whilst his have very attractive Blues and reds.
I do think that nice blue skies complement aerial shots and the weather on Saturday was quite good. This, however, was not particularly evident on my images.
Also, the Dpreview site states that ‘It is a well known fact that the 10D underexposes by 1 stop’. Can anyone enlighten me on my latest ‘trials’

Just received my 10D back from a 4 week stay with Canon (it broke down after 400 shots (error 99)) and it performed well yesterday night. Its much better than the digital Eos-1n I have. Maybe the 10D is abit soft but after using some minute sharpenning its fine. What I don’t like is the time consuming RAW conversion. But maybe i am to much used to the Kodak software I normally use (and which is worthless for the 10). Some say Breezebrowser is an alternative. Anyone has experience with this ? BW Roger

All my pictures so far have been absolute ******** , the ones taken with my old Fuji Finepix have been better , this is probably due to the fact that I can’t be arsed reading the telephone book instruction manual for the 10D , one problem I do have is a kind of “corona” effect round any lights or sparkly bits , anybody any idea ???.

Bloody 10D’s. The images never look as sharp to me as they did on film. Clearer, yes, but always look soft unless I put in some Unsharp Masking.
Why has photography become difficult again?
You can up the saturation, the contrast and the sharpness on the 10D in the parameters settings if you like. That helps a bit.
(btw, your friends auto fuji probably underexposed when pointed at the sky, hence a nice dark blue sky. I imagine the aircraft are in silghouette nearly.)
