Any news from Alpha One. Lauch date, additional routes?

And with those words of wisdom from Kev, it’s time to put this subject to bed until another day.
Thread closed until there are further developments either way.

Here’s what I think after reading the latest posts.
Damien – Either go and prove him wrong (he has offered the opportunity) or let it go.
Martin – It probably would be quite sensible to keep quiet now. Your publicity has, as far as I can see, spiralled out of control. You are promising much but have yet to deliver. Don’t dig a bigger hole for yourself. I, and I’m sure, all of us, would like to see you succeed. At the moment we have little to give us confidence that you will. Let’s hope it all works out and we can all say in a few years time “that Halstead chaps bought how many A340’s?”
Just as an aside, why would you be on Letterman? Beware he isn’t trying to take the mickey out of you.
Regards,

But I do think that a) no more should be said on this topic b) the topic should possibly be deleted and c) like someone else said earlier, let’s avoid discussing it until the airline is fully up and running.
I completely agree Michael. Well said.

I fail to see why I should waste several hours of my time on something that frankly I don’t care that much about.
I can understand the a lot of the points you have made throughout this post and its great that like others, you are expressing your opinions.
I’m not telling you not to say what you are saying. I am like you and will say something if I feel it is appropriate, without thinking about what others will make of my views, but you do claim not to care about this business, but the number of lengthy posts you have made suggest otherwise.

We’ve all expressed our opinions on this situation now, why don’t we just leave it for now…?
By: Mark L - 22nd June 2005 at 18:07
I would tend to agree with Andy here. However I do know from personal experience that finding where that exact line is can be hard. How much exactly do you wait for to be completed before you star the publicity, any delay in publicising the airline causes potentially lost interest, but announcing too soon creates this kind of a situation.
From what I understand, the circumstances of Alpha1 changed, from the inital plan of launching one route, to the prospect of a bigger set up, and this ocurred after the inital publicity started to be wheeled out. This goes someway towards explaining how this vacuum has now appeared, with people questioning what is going on with the airline between the publicity and launch stages.

You are meant to be a moderator not a censor of anything you personally don’t like.
I’m sorry, Damien. I didn’t realise everything I did was subject to your permission and approval.
In my opinion, the question of yours that I deleted was sarcastic and was calculated to produce an angry response – “trolling” in other words.
Your vendetta against Martin_EGTK is tiresome. Please give it a rest.
Thank you.

Damien.
You are by far the most vociferous dissenter in this. I agree with you that it does seem rather strange that the delay in announcments increases, as well as other issues. But, he has offered YOU the opportunity to visit him and see his ‘proof’ that it is not all just smoke and mirrors.
You’re not far from Oxford are you? Nip down, see the office and his plans, meet his staff then challenge him to a game of Laser Quest.

Well, we all have the right to believe what we want and express our opinions, and let’s just say mine is slightly different to yours…

Frankly I cannot be bothered. It’s up to him to convince his public that his is more than a virtual airline – and if he thinks the best way to do that is to talk to people on an individual basis at this offices then it would seem he isn’t quite as busy as you’d expect!
The way I can see it is that you have picked apart all of his other posts to the very bone, thinking of ways to turn him into a liar. But you can’t accept the fact that he may well have an office, and that he may well be willing to meet you and prove the fact. That is why you ignored it and ‘cannot be bothered’.

We are currently based in Oxford, but we’re moving to a new office in Canada Square in London as it’s equidistant from Oxford and Cambridge. We’ll be in the Citibank tower.
A flight into London sounds good then…..

Well, they’re one of the many J32s we’re looking at, but at the moment it seems the most likely. They are in a very good condition and have been very well looked after.
Indeed, Sun Air do have a good reputation in that department 😉

Martin, might take you up on that. Are you based at Oxford?
I have a few Holidays coming up.

Hey, if anyone wants to come down to the offices, you’re all very welcome, I’d be delighted to show you guys around…maybe even a forum meet 😀

I too would be interested in seeing the set-up. Maybe once the operation is up again though, because then I could book myself on Cambridge-Oxford?

They tape the show in the afternoon and broadcast it at 11:30 PM local. I’m looking forward to it. Have fun. 😀
Learn something new everyday! I might have to fly out the day before then which will mena missing the U2 gig in Cardiff that I’ve had a ticket for for the last four months….damn!! 🙂

Excellent stuff mate, all the best in the US and in Denmark.
Are you getting one of the former Sun-Air’s JS32, or you don’t want to disclose that sort of info atm?

Yeah course I am. I’d be happy to set something up. It would need to be at sometime after mid July, I’m not really in the office for the next few weeks. I’m in New York for David Letterman’s show next week, then in Denmark to finish the purchase of our aircraft, then back in the States to finish the investment stuff off and then in Germany to pick up my new car! But after all that I’ll be around the whole time.
Name a date and we’ll see what we can set up. In fact if other people in the forum were interested I’ll set up some kind of Open Day.

I think the show is actually going out live. I’m on the 30th of June, same day that I fly out there, some how I think I’m gonig to be knackered! Haven’t even got round to booking the flights yet, they;ve told me to book them myself and then they’ll give me that cash back. Was thinking of trying Continental funnily enough!

LBARules, like you I’d be one of the first to think of a Flywho type scenario! The thing is, we have everything in place, it’s literally just a case of getting all this red tape with the investment sorted out…and trust me, that really won’t be long now. I’m not going to give dates just yet as it would be unwise, but it will be very soon.
Thats reassured me, all the very best of luck!
Would love to come down the offices, im sure as you imagine, Bradford is a bit far from Oxford! Dont think a trip down there will be possible for the forseeable future ;).
Maybe LBA-Oxford could be a good future route.;)
