As far as I can recall they were good for about 150mph on a C90 which is definitely not hanging about in my book though I can not recall ever having seen one flying – shame

The machine at Duxford is the former Tiger Club machine.

The type was designed by legendary Lockheed test pilot Tony Le Vier and a team of Lockheed engineers in 1946-47 as a private venture. A total of three were built of which the machine at Duxford (Ballerina) has been in Europe since the 1960’s.
She was used by Neil Williams in the 1964 World Aerobatic Championships whilst in the ownership of the Tiger Club. She is a fabulous aircraft which still has few equals.

There are 2 registered in the UK G-ARUL with Pete Kynsey and G-BAER, I am sure there would be others in America (possibly elsewhere as well) don’t know a huge amount about the type however.

In answer to your question, I believe we will be hit by cosmic wind from Sun spots this evening. It may effect some communications equipment.
