That is just incredible. A masterpiece! 😯 😯
Model engineering has always fascinated me – I’ve always wanted a 5″ gauge steam locomotive, but I haven’t enough patience to keep to the (as my friend once put it when we were discussing HIS loco) “the same grindstone for 15 years”, and as such I have to be content with the (almost) “instant” plastic models!
Maybe if I ever win the lottery I might treat myself…!

Incredible, simply incredible! In fairness it probably isn’t displayed as shown there for technical, keeping all those functions working over a long period of time would be difficult and possibly involve dismantling the model every now and then, possibly to the detriment of its stunning appearence.

Don’t you just love it when you think you’ve seen it all – then along comes something as stunning as this to blow you away…. 😀
What an amazing engineered model – lovely to watch that clip, but such a crying shame it currently appears to be static on a revolving diorama display setting these days…. If only it could be operated as built…
Well done to Bernard the builder of this amazing project…. 🙂

Wasn’t thinking about it flying, but running up etc would’ve been good!
I hadn’t watched the whole film so I assumed it was a flyer- my appologies. Having finally got to watch the whole film I am truly gobsmacked!!!!!
Every museum should have a model or two like this.

Yeah the engine run looks ok and that, but i think it looks better just sitting there, with all the figures. Its just like a ww2 RAF scene
But nether the less its great on all accounts

I don’t think it was meant to fly but it is impressive as the post it raises and lowers upon just adds to e realism!

It would have been a greater waste if it had flown & crashed, still IT is one fantastic model- I just wish it was in our museum.
Anyone know who’s got it though?

Just watched the video. Incredible. Couldn’t believe it when things such as undercarrige, turrets, flaps etc started moving. What a piece of engineering/modelling.

IIRC it’s in the Hutton-le-Hole local history/folk museum, which is out past Pickering way onto N. Yorks Moors. Fitting perhaps, several bombers crashed in this area…indeed a Lancaster crashed in, or just outside of, Hutton-le-Hole

That is quite simply staggering- perhaps the best model I have ever seen, of anything! A true tribute to the Hallybag, and better looking than the full sized one at Elvington, I reckon! :p

What a waste!- all the hours that went into getting it to actually work only to have it on static display

That is one amazing model. Imagine it filmed against a green screen the result would be awesome!

bernard also restored the rear turret for YAMs Halifax he made the perspex panels in a vacuum former made from an old chest freezer, ive seen the model many years ago and it is a real joy to behold so accurate .

Apparently it is in a museum in the uk and is static only.
