Amazing Spitfire video

Not sure if anyone has seen this one or not. From a quick search it looks like no one has posted this yet.

A Swiss watch company, IWC, is making a line of watches called “Spitfire.” I think this might relate back to a thread about a year or so ago about someone in Switzerland buying the rights to the name Spitfire.

Anyways, they have released a promotional movie for the watch, which features some fabulous air to airs of the Planes of Fame Spitfires over the mountains of California. The story line might be a bit cornball, but the visuals are great!!!!

Definitely worth a look. They also have a short movie on the making of the movie, believe it or not. It’s also worth a look.

This is no infomercial – a very interesting style of advertising. But, then, its no ordinary watch. Doubt I will ever be able to afford one!!

Anyways, here’s the link. Have fun!!

Just watched it all.

Quite entertaining – noticed that SM832 only had roundels and flashes applied, rather than a full makeover, but then most of the footage was shot so that the dark earth/dark green camo wasn’t really visible. Fun to watch, though.

Why not just write to the company? They’ll doubtless have some photos taken.

Hmm! Now why didn’t I think of that?

I little dig around the IWC media site, after registration, yields three or four shots of the ‘arty farty’ variety.

However, little to record Spitfire history.

John Malkovich.

The Spitfires were SM832 and ML417. Not totally CGI, the aircraft were repainted as AV-T & AV-H respectively.

Now what nice person at Chino managed to capture them in these temporary schemes?

This would be December ’05 and January ’06.

Not totally CGI

Thanks Mark 12, I thought my eyes were playing tricks when I spotted what looked like CGI…

…and I think I’ve just had a premonition about Dam Busters 2007.

bugg*r.
