RE: american airports
EWR is agreeably terrible when it comes to passanger comforts. When I was there coming home to Heathrow, my departure lounge was terrible with only an overpriced newsagent there. However, it did have a nice history section on the wall which provided some interesting learning for 15 mins.

RE: american airports
Yes, I’m not particularly keen on the airports I’ve passed through in the States: PIT, SFO and EWR.
PIT, I couldn’t really have cared what it had as I was too tired to do anything but sit having come in from LGW, while SFO didn’t seem to have much to do, although I didn’t turn up to soon before as my flight was at 8am. I just had time for some breakfast before my flight. Worst of all was EWR. YOu have to be there 2 hours before for International flights, fair enough. Ok, they were doing some rebuilding at the time, but all there was to do was a small newsagent.
I found YYZ to be much better equipped for things to do in North America.

RE: american airports
I have only been to Sanford International in the US, and this is fairly new airport. It only had 4 shops and a big gaming room.
About KL, the new airport has excellent facilitys, but it is way ahead of its time. Because of the messing around of one terminal to the next during a transfer. I ended up turning up for a domestic flight 30 mins after it had taken off.

RE: american airports
Yes, I also agree that American airports are bad especially the shopping facilities. This is probably because many of their airports were built during an era in which shopping and passenger comfort were not considered to be high priority.
The new airports emerging in the Far east such as KL and HK have clearly been designed to accommodate all the needs of the passengers and not the airline crew.
