American Trans Aviation

There was an American Trans Aviation Boeing 757 in Glasgow on Friday 25th July. Having never heard of them or seen one anyone with any info on them.

Thanks Wires2. I shall do a bit more research and find out why firstly I was given duff info and secondly why we don’t seem to be following our own policies!

Having looked on the caa website.
Both G-FCLG & G-JMCF are both 14-15 years old now. Do you think they might be retired soon.

I’ve seen there 757’s in the NYC airports and it’s a dark blue color.

Caledonian got rid of their 757s (back to BA?) some years pre-JMC and replaced them with the A320s that I think went to Thomas Cook Belgium. The original JMC 757s were ex-Flying Colours then supplemented with ex-Russian airframes and brand new ones. Current company policy is to only operate aircraft less than 10 years old.

Their livery has “Balkan” on the forward fuselage and “BH Holidays” on the tail fin.

Pretty sure Balkan and Hemus go by the name of Balkan Holidays Air now.

ATA are a regular caller at Mildenhall using both 757 and Tristar aircraft. Recently saw one sporting a “Visit Hawaii” livery-seemed very out of place in a military environment!

They are not ex Caledonian aircraft. AFAIK, JMC and BA divvied them up.

No they also fly from two principle hubs at Chicago Midway and Indianapolis to the east and west coasts of the U.S with the 737-800 aircraft and also small connection service by Chicago Express who they bought in 1999.
