Which states in USA are best/busiest for historic aviation activity ? If UK is largely centered around east anglia, home counties Shuttleworth, Duxford/ legends where and what is the equivalent in the USA? Having seen an airshow list in America the choice is huge but from experience where is the best going on ? I’m only talking pre jet era type airshows.
thanks

Having had a look through Bob Ogdens Great Aircraft Collections of the World, Arizona and California stand out in particular and have obvious advantages from an aircraft operational point of view whereas Wisconsin I am informed is somewhat more seasonal.

I’ve always said Chino airport is the Duxford of North America…PoF, Yanks, plus rebuild operations.
There are other collections nearby…March and Castle (ex AF bases) come to mind and Tuscson’s huge Pima museum (with it’s large collection of UK types and a pretty complete set of post-war USAF types) is less than a days drive away.
The Seattle area has 5 collections (plus the Boeing wide-body factory tour) and Dallas/Ft. Worth has several too.
If course D.C. has the National Air and Space Museum, Florida has the Naval museum, and the Air Force collection in Dayton nearby are other attractions like the B-17 rebuild in Champaign and the well displayed 1905 Wright Flyer in Dayton.

California definitely worth a visit! Apart from airshows, the activity and museums around the State are plentiful.
