Ams 13/06/2004 (tu134!!!!!)

Heard yesterday afternoon that Pulkovo was bringing in a TU134 instead of the regular TU154. So a last minute change of weekend plans was made. This is a very rare plane in the Netherlands, the TU134 is considered to be too noisy. Only my 4th TU134 I have ever seen.

Next to that another Russian made plane dropped in, an Antonov 12 from Vega Airlines. A tristar came in as well, but unfortunately (and despite almost breaking the sound barrier on the back roads) i missed it by 5 minutes.

A full log will be added to the spotting competition thread later, but here are some pics.

Ace shots Peter! The 134 must have been a real treat. Dont get anything like that over here. 🙁 Not usually anyway.

A nice shot of it taking back to the air too. 🙂

Great photos, I love 134’s. Great thing about AMS is they seem to park great aircraft of that stand right by the deck(IRA A300,Baltic 146 etc last week!).

Just alarm me when you are dropping over. You seem to be extremely lucky. It does not happen often that the really interesting planes are parked at the closest gate.

134’s are used very occasionally into LHR too on the Saturday StPetersberg flight. I well remember 15-20 years ago when LOT,CSA 134’s were regullar along with the occasional Balkan and Aeroflot.

1) A new airline that I have seen twice. This is my first good photo of it.
2) Parked at the maintenance hangars in the back is the Surinam Airways 747. It does not yet have the proper documentation and is therefore grounded. Note that the registration has been changed back to the Dutch registration. It did wear the “new” Surinamese registration for a few weeks.
3) My first view of Air Baltic. Was about time too, they have been flying to AMS for quite a while now.
4) Trying something new. As if I needed a sign to know where I am.

The Tu134 looks to be attracting a fair bit of attention from the ramp workers! 🙂
