Yep, some more photos again from AMS. This time with my new lense since my old lense has gone death. Not quite sure wether this lense is an improvement though. For anything close by it does miracles. Unfortunately for something a bit far away the image tends to be very soft, blurry even. Even my old lense was better at long range, even though it cost only a third of the new one.
Still, a few interesting planes from a absolutely freezing airport. Temperature was +3 degrees but with the wind it felt like -7. Very clear though with sun throughout the day.
For the AMS meet next week, the weather is expected to remain much the same as it has been. Dry but cold.

Hmm…how did the price compare with the Canon 70-200 F2.8? Or even the 70-200 F4? The 70-200 F4 is fantastically sharp, even with a 1.4x extender.
My lense cost 800 euro (~550 pounds). The Canon 70-200 2.8 goes at 1400 so would be just a tad more expensive. 😉
Have not tried an extender yet. Before I get and extender I want to be able to get the most out of this lense. But no later then by May because of the Blue Angels display at Leeuwarden and the Farnborough air show. 😀

Sigma 70-200 2.8 HSM. Great lense for objects close by and at medium distance. But for long distance the photos tend to be really soft. Could not have been the weather cause it was excellent.

Is that the famous KLM swan ???
Actually, this swan seemed to be a tad too young to be the KLM swan. However, KLM has announced they intend to expand 10% over the next few years so perhaps in a few years this will be a real KLM swan. 😀

Is that the famous KLM swan ???
I wonder what he’s saying now as he floats around the Schipol periphery ?
“Oh I dunno, one minute your face is plastered all over the side of planes travelling the globe, press conferences, photo shoots, cocktail parties and all the birds you could want. The next minute, nobody wants to know….” 😀

I kept reseurecting the AMS meet thread, but it didn’t really prompt anymore intrest.
Myself and Dc10fan (If he’s still planning on coming to spot/photo), arrive at 09:15 on LS201.
Dont worry – myself and Paul are planning on coming back in August, £33, it would be rude not to!

Brilliant shots Pete, less than a week until AMS, woohoo!
You call it a meet, there will be 3 of us at the most!
Only 3? Had expected more. Perhaps it is time to resurrect the AMS “meet” thread again? Would like to know at what time(s) I am expected to pick you all up.

Nice Pictures there.
Wow that Fokker 50 looks brilliant in the new KLC colours. Can I save the picture of it please.James
Sure why not, right click and save as. In a few days it will probably find its way to JP.net at 1024×768 or 1024×683. Have not decided yet how to crop it.

Excellent shots! 😀 Love the F50 and that swan (if I’m wrong it’s my bro’s fault, cos he’s meant to be really good with animals lol!)
