AN-124 and ERJ-190 and night photography at NEMA yesterday!

hey

Visited NEMA yesterday with a couple of friends for the first time since being back at Uni. We went primarily to see the ERJ-190, but i had a suspicion that an An-124 was still on the ground and i wasnt to be dissappointed!

Also of note was a Spitfire, and UPS 767 in the evening.

We stayed for the sunset and then took night shots of the traffic and airport. Airports at night are truely beautiful, especially on a clear night when you can see aircraft lights way in the distance and then follow them as they make their finals.

Here they are: 🙂

she back tracked some of the runway, and then turned onto a taxiway and taxxied right past us! Huge is not the word.

Thanks for the map 🙂
I assume the lines are walking routes from your description.
Where do you usually park up? Airport parking or just laybys/roads?
I guess though if the An225 does land today/tomorrow the place will be heaving?!

Smell shouldn’t be a problem – I work for a company that builds sewage works! :p

Andrew

We poor students cant afford our own private transport (apart from a bicycle 😀 ), and being around 8 miles from the airport at Loughborough Uni, we get the airport shuttle which runs from the town to the airport.

the latest news as to the arrival of the 225, is a 2.45am arrival, so i shouldnt think the place will be heaving :p

thanks!

best to explain with the help of google

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a132/adamdowley/Untitled-1.jpg

the red lines mark where we go. the line by the end of rwy 27 is on the airport trail which can be joined at the roundabout. the spot parallel to the rwy is on a mound infront of the taxiway and can be reached by going on the airport trail and then backtracking along the perimeter fence.

its not an easy, short walk from the roundabout to the places – its through an uneven field that at one point does not smell appealing at all – open sewer type thing (enough said).

but, once you reach the spots, you get some great photo opportunities, including waves from passengers and pilots as they taxi infront of you. we’ve even had a middle finger from one easyjet passenger. 🙁

Excellent shots!
Where do you go to photograph?
I have never been to NEMA but would like to go but do not know where the ‘good’ places are.

Thanks
Andrew

You’ve more chance of the Pope turning Muslim than getting a cheque from ADB 😀 😀

Nice pictures of my Bird 008 Adam 😉 Wait for 225 next week 😮

Makes me feel really sorry for the engineering students that have really busy timetables.

Well our mob were down there today for the demo, however the rumours doing the rounds as to who would be the likely recipient, would raise some eyebrows!!!

BMI-Baby or easyJet by any chance? Or are you not allowed to divulge more information that just a frustrating teaser. 😉

The ERJ was nightstopping there for a day doing a local flight today and departing later.

Well, there we go then, wonder who that could be for!?! 😉

As for the lectures, I have just 12 hours a week. Today for example, Ive had a single one hour lecture. And thats it. Ahhh, this is the life. 😀 :diablo: :p

Yes, it is a bit of a doss LOL! Have they got a pure ATM lecturer yet?
