Yesterday I had the day off and being a really nice day I decided to jump on the bike and find myself a nice pub by the Thames.
I ended up in a Barnes pub called Ye White Hart. Right on the river, lovely sunshine, pint and newspaper in hand- lovely!
Another bonus was being directly underneath the Heathrow approach and every 2 or 3 minutes an aircraft would fly overhead. Even though they were still a few thousand feet high you could get a good look at them. But what was most interesting was the noise each model generated. For instance, I got the feeling that the 777 is a surprisingly noisy plane. The 747 on the other hand seems very quiet by comparison- strange considered the size and number of engines.
The quietest of the lot that flew over was a A319. As for most the noisy… the good old 737-200. Made everyone look up.
Anyway, I can think of worse ways of spending an afternoon. Next time I might bring my camera and/or a pair of binoculars with me… 😀

though the kitchen closes at 3 pm.
That’s almost as bad as the pubs themselves closing at 11 p.m.! 😡

Didn’t pay attention to the ales I’m afraid. They’ve got Stella and Fosters that I noticed… I usually ask for Fosters if I’m on the bike as you know you can have safely one pint and stay under the limit… they might have Carling as well but can’t remember for sure.
Good looking food as well, though the kitchen closes at 3 pm.
