An amazing discovery.

With both my Dad and Uncle quite poorly at the moment I haven’t had much time to do much of anything. But needs must and tonight I needed to do some shopping. For time and reasons of proximity I went to Sainsbury’s and half an hour later, and a lot lighter than when I arrived, I returned to the care with a newly acquired knowledge. I know why Sainsbury’s is quieter than Asda, Morrison’s or Tesco…. It’s bl**dy expensive!

After paying more than 10p per can extra on a 12 tray of dog food I returned home and broke the bad news to the dog. If he wants to carry on living here he is going to have to go and get himself a job.

you`re right PD,dog and cat food is also fit for human consumption.I worked at pedigree petfoods years ago and was amazed to see people sat at testing tables eating cat and dog food.

Think I may have snogged a few of the tasters in my time………….

We have quite a choice of supermarkets in this town..not!

Three tescos, yes three!, one Asda one Sainsbury, and a Lidl.

I wouldnt give Tesco a penny of my money-period.

In Asda you have to practically climb over empty cardboard packaging to get to anything, plus the store is laid out in a weird way. The vegetables seem third rate and the meat always seems on the fatty side.

Lidl is not an option.

There is no longer a high street Butcher, Greengrocer or Fishmonger in the town.

That leaves Sainsbury, who by far, have the best meat and veg quality of any store I have been in. We have never had a bad bit of meat or ever had poor quality fruit or vegetables A tad dearer yes, but also the staff are really friendly and the store is clean.

Only 3 Tesco’s? You lucky man I live 9 miles from a town of, Iwould say, no more than 20000 people with 6 Tesco’s. Overkill or what? Anyone would think people are scared to walk more tha half a mile.

It does make you wonder though. Pre VAT increase it was £5.25 for a twelve can case. Post increase, and I mean the next day, it was £6.35. As the increase was meant to be about 14p I wonder how they justified the extra 96p?

I reckon the VAT increase from 17.5% to 20% should have made it £5.36 for your dog’s case of food.

What was the increase of £0.14 supposed to be for? At the time of the VAT increase there was the suggestion that unscrupulous supermarkets were using the change in VAT to disguise non-VAT price hikes. I’m actually quite surprised there is VAT on dog food (as opposed to human food).

Had him too long now to part with him. It’s not his fault, he can only tolerate one type of dog food. Any other brand and he’ll lap it up followed by chucking it up.

Been in Normandy – Omaha / Utah / St Mere Eglise

Even had good weather.

No toy-boys though.

Moggy

Lucky man. Last did that trip in Autumn 2009 and enjoyed beautiful warm autumnal sunshine. Did you get to the British/Canadian end as well? It was my first visit to the US museum at St Mere.

Moggy’s a late arrival here – it’s in danger of becoming a groundhog thread.:D

Ten miles to shop for books or boy-toys – no problem. 🙂

You have a decent bookshop within ten miles! Amazon has killed all the bookshops round here.

(I wouldn’t really like to comment on how far you have to go to pick-up your toy-boys! :diablo:)

I’m sceptical about L7s claim, but know full well you can print off barcodes on any PC/printer combination from freeware available to download by anybody.

I find driving ten miles to go shopping for groceries unbearable too. Ten miles to shop for books or boy-toys – no problem. 🙂

Moggy

I can assure you Moggy it’s true.

Indeed they did, amigo.

And still do.

Why would that be relevant?

Yes, Just because Abbos eat grubs etc, don’t mean they are fit for others, not used to that sort of diet to eat, same as the food cats, dogs eat, if the testers came from a Country, like Aus,and they were Abbos. and can you tell me why there is a need for humans to test eat dog and cat food anyway, bit like getting dogs and cats to test the food we eat.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-514630/Pedigrees-chum-Meet-man-M-S-tests-pets-ready-meals.html Yes they do still taste test pet foods, they had about 12 tables there with full time testers when I worked there in 1984.,where they were from I do not know,it was avery specialised job believe it or not.I have made curries with dog food when I was a student based on what I saw, never made me Ill and it tasted really nice.I also had heathy gums and a lovely shiney hair, but the car chasing became a problem.

Hundenburg, people actually test-tasted pet food?!

Indeed they did, amigo.

What Country were they from?
