Simple question.
What is the weather going to be like next Saturday morning over the South East of England (April 29th)? Do we forecast anything meteorological getting in the way of our enjoyment of aviation? The earlier you predict the correct outcome, the more adoration you win from the forum.

Oh that was you. I always thought it wise to avoid people with a throttle in one and a bottle of wine in another. You should make a better effort to grab my attention next time.

From where I was sitting, you were doing a fine job entertaining them both :-). I did wave a bottle of Pouilly Fuissé (described in a recent magazine revue as the ‘Wine of Risk Takers’) at you as a gesture for you to join me on my table, but you ignored me.

Stansted at 11:50 was Juliet and 1021; at 12:10 it was Lima and 1021.
I’m afraid that I cannot prove the QNH did/didn’t get to my predicted 1030 at either midday (as I suggested) or 12:50 (as suggested by Trinny) as I was busy at that time entertaining a grow-bag and his/her friend who had an enormous Hunting-Percival designer grin.

At 11:50BST the ATIS was “Juliet” and the QNH was…
1021, becoming 1022 for information “Kilo”.
No sign of the mist which cleared overnight from all parts to leave glorious CAVOK for much of the early morning. Slightly stronger than anticipated winds to blame.

Regrettably I didn’t catch the 12:50Z METAR for Stansted.
It looked like it was headed for 1020-1.
Anybody catch it?

Roger. I’ll also look forward to a detailed comparison of our growbags as started at Leicester. It is sooo important that we girls attempt to ensure that we don’t come wearing the same clothes at Forum outings.

I’ll let you know when next I bump into you at an airfield. The answer is not for sensitive ears.

Moggy: Did you need me to explain FGB? Or PPGTS for that matter?
I did…

Janie knows nothing. Rumour has it that her recent Met course got cancelled when they discovered quite what knowledge gap there was to fill 😉
It’s not so much a gap, more a black hole.
I’d be looking for a midday QNH at Stansted of around 1023/1024.
I’m volunteering to work as adjudicator as I live locally. I’ll check the ATIS at midday. For checking purposes, Trinny, you will need to confirm what letter ATIS is in effect at midday. Don’t tell me, you are a personal friend of the ATCO there and you will rely upon them form QNH info, right? Or perhaps you will just phone them when you land and ask what letter it was at midday. Well don’t try cheating, my little beauty. Cheating doesn’t work.

Significant chance of early morning mist, which may be hard to shake off in places.

The weather will be excellent, I will be flying a TB10 and I shall go to the ball. Okay I made that last bit up.
Seriously what is the chance of low viz or mist?

Trinny
whereupon the pretty little ensuing cumuli will turn into FGB nimbus monsters
I’ve looked in all my ‘Aviation Met for Dummies’ books and can’t find that kind of Nimbus anywhere

Trinny
The mist will not be clearing until 11:59, whereupon the pretty little ensuing cumuli will turn into FGB nimbus monsters and envelope you in the type of torrent that made Noah the first homebuilder.
QNH 1030.
Also: Watch what you eat Friday night.
Jealous? Moi?
By: Trinny - 27th April 2006 at 15:03
Janie, I am taking a friend flying on Saturday once the mist has cleared. There being only two seats, there is no room to invite either you or Moggy along for the ride.
🙁
By: Chipmunk Carol - 27th April 2006 at 14:11
Thanks Mog, but the Chip is at the mechanics having her private parts tickled for about three weeks. :sob:
It would be sacriledge to use the PPGTS to such a wonderful event.
By: Moggy C - 27th April 2006 at 14:07
If it was any good you would have invited Moggy & me to come flying with you.
You are invited to Rougham on Monday Janie.

Je vais te donner mes prévisions pour samedi.
What is the weather going to be like next Saturday morning over the South East of England (April 29th)?
Very similar to the day before.
Do we forecast anything meteorological getting in the way of our enjoyment of aviation?
No we don’t, because nothing can get in the way of our enjoyment of aviation.
The earlier you predict the correct outcome, the more adoration you win from the forum.
Now you’ve got me worried. I’d had to lose the adoration of these forumites. I’ve seen what happens when they turn on you.
Show your workings.
Only if you show me yours first.
Now if you had asked “Is the weather going to be good enough for flying?” I would have answered “Definitely not”. How do I know. If it was any good you would have invited Moggy & me to come flying with you.

Good, as long as I can make someone laugh the day has not been wasted.
