dark light

An Experiment.

Right, it’s Friday and it’s been another bleak and meaningless week in my dark existentialist World.
So I thought I’d try a small experiment. I selected a piece from the Daily Mail, which seemingly has little political content (and that’s actually quite hard in the DM) and I’d like to see how many posts this thread can run before it turns either into an anti/pro EU debate or an old fashioned Left/Right argument.
I can see that with a bit of thought a political argument could be chiseled out of the piece but I’ll leave that up to you clever, more gifted children in the class.
Anyway, here it is:-

Sorry I can’t resist. Do you mean to tell me that these people aren’t illegal immigrants/benefit cheats spending their benefits on their dogs instead of their children or are the kids all in care.;)

I have always found the local car wash to be perfectly good enough. just check what detergent they use. I tried three of those hand car washes in the supermarket car parks – mixed results one complained the dog bit him and the other refused to wash the dog on the grounds of cruelty. Oh the third called the RSPCA – my case will be reported in the Daily Mail next tuesday.

Andy, There are two sides to this. We have two dogs, and my wife used to cut, shampoo, both of them, now because her hands cannot grip properly, and I am not allowed to “Lug and lift” we are forced to send both to a local grooming shop, where they wash, cut, shampoo all by hand, dried by heavy duty air driers, and for £20.00 each, do a fine job, and we are satisfied. Also the dogs are not stressed.

On the other hand we see the Americans who have more money than sense, grooming their dogs to enter into shows, they even dress them up to look like humans, just so they can be the “Winner” of a certain class, I used to have, (Long since passed away) and the best dog I ever had, was a Norwegion Elk Hound, similar to a Huskie, she was shown at several shows, and won several 1st rosets, she only needed the odd grooming, nothing special. she was part of the family.
Guess it depends on how you see your dog, however, if the T S H.T.F. if they injured our two dogs whilst grooming them.
Jim.

Sorry, Andy – I can’t work up any enthusiasm for stories like this…even assuming it’s the unmitigated truth:(

I’m saddened that only three of you have decided to participate. Two of those I’ve known a number of years.

I fear that a number of you take yourselves very seriously indeed.
Where’s the fun in that..??

—- not a mention of why people would want to buy these overpriced foreign show dogs/ status symbols 🙂

And no suggestion that people who buy such overpriced fashion statements and then choose to spend even more of their hard-earned (presumably ;)) money on sending them to a place that sticks them in a doggie hair-dryer, rather than wash/dry the dog at home themselves, have more money than sense neither…. 😀

A fool (left-wing or right wing) and their money are soon parted etc….:diablo:

Maybe anyone using the services of such a facility should accept that it is their own responsibility to first ensure (to their own satisfaction) that the owners and their staff (of whatever nationaility) all have suitable training and/or experience in the area of doggie hair-do’s and associated equipment before they leave their beloved pooch (of any species or political leaning) there?

Or does everyone believe the State (left- or right-wing governed) should now be responsible for everything that has an unexpected/undesirable outcome, even when it is an area of relative minority interest such as regulation of dog-grooming salons.

Surely personal responsibility (on the part of the dog owner) and negiligence (on the part of the groomer) are apolitical topics….:D

As all things in life Andy there are good and bad and human nature–mistakes.
Lack of training is surprising,i thought they would have had to have something ,even if just for insurance purposes.
There hows that for a measured reply—- not a mention of why people would want to buy these overpriced foreign show dogs/ status symbols 🙂
