An Impressively Grey Day At MAN! 11-0-10-08

Hi All,

Myself and Danny Jones had a wander over the Pennines to MAN yesterday in the hope the weather would be kind to us. In true MAN style, it wasn’t and it was incredibly dull all day. Nonetheless, we stuck it out (with the help of the Tatton Arms and the Airport Hotel) and here’s what I ended up with!

All taken with a Canon 30D + EF 70-200L lens.

This was taken at ISO 250 and brightened by around two stops in CS3, so although it’s the equivalent of ISO 1000 and it’s a crap shot, I’ve included it just because it’s a little different!

Some nice pictures there mate,I didnt know LOT were still serving MAN I thought they passed it on to Centralwings who then ceased the service. The Lufthansa D-AILU is a regular here in WAW.I was in MAN in August on a saturday but didnt catch the Great Wall 747,really wanna get a shot at that.

Thankyou! The LOT 737 was a diversion from LHR, so it isn’t a regular sight!

Excellent work mate. We have another provisional flight positioning to/from MAN on the 30th of the month, so if it goes ahead I shall let you know and hopefully arrange a meet (if you’re not on tour?).

PMN seems to have neglected to mention that he captured the Air France A318 shot from a sitting position while sheltering from the rain on a bench in a pub beer garden ……with a pint of Carling in one hand. :diablo:

Yes, indeed I did. In fact that particular image was captured, from a sheltered position outdoors while consuming alcohol, shortly after being reminded by Lance of the time myself and Adam ‘WAC2’ Spalding were hiding in a deep, dark and long forgotten corner of the Tatton Arms playing with Photoshop while the sun shone outside to levels of brightness that woud have made ISO 25 useable. I really am never going to live that down, am I?!

Tom/Steve… Wednesday sounds fine to me!

Thanks for your comments so far, all. 🙂

Paul

P.S. Spalds… You talking about Madeira by any chance? 33 days to go! 😀

Saturday is the day i’m working most of the day!! Best days for me are Tuesday, Wednesday (Off both days), or Friday (Finish work early). 🙂

How does Tuesday or Wednesday sound, depending on which looks like the better day?

It certainly wasn’t the best day ever for photography as the conditions were pretty horrendous, but by 19:30 in the Airport Pub, we didn’t really care!

Thanks to DJ for the company, and Grey ‘I do believe it was 2433, yes I do’ Area for his much needed humour! 😀

Thanks for looking. 🙂
