Hi all,
Myself and Mr Jones had a wander up to LBA yesterday as we heard there was going to be a rather rare visitor to our humble little airport. As usual, the weather was superb for everything but the important stuff but nonetheless, the important stuff was nice to see! This was also the first time it’s been light enought to shoot the PIA since around the time the service started last year, although the light was fading by then and I was up to ISO 320. Still nice to see!
All taken with a Canon 30D + EF 70-200L f/4.
And the star of the day… There have been a range of four engined jets at LBA over the years including 707’s and 747’s, but as a relative newcomer this was the first time I’ve seen a quad here, and even though it wasn’t a passenger movement it was sure nice to see and looked very impressive on our runway. It’s actually the second time a C-17 has visited us in the space of a week; hopefully they’ll pop in more often!

Where were you shooting from ?
Why was the C-17 there, where did it park, how long did it stay and how did you know it was coming ?
I might have to go to the academy more often if I am going to see something interesting.
