Eh up!

Happy Birthday! – hope you are having a good day!

books look interesting!

think cold is good for anything fizzy!

interesting sub title ont he Aircraft regognition – ‘not to be taken in the air’ – would it cause a distraction hazard for the pilot trying to match up pics with what he is seeing??

Thanks very much folks.

Not a bad forty-first. Had a very nice rare rump steak, prawns and beans for dinner, although we did drink the very tasty red champagne on our anniversary earlier in the week (Red fizz. Room temp or cold? We chose cold).

The loot haul was small and select. From my father in the UK came two aircraft recognition books (you’d think he’d accept I’ve got it by now…) from W.W.II, but these are cool. One civilian one, Samson Low’s Aircraft of the World Recognition Book Ed: E.C.Talbot-Booth, new in 1942, and AP 1764 ‘Not to be Taken Into the Air’. The Samson Low item has lots of fascinating aircraft like the ‘AGO Kurier’ which I admit to never having heard of, and suspected was a myth, like the ‘Heinkel 113s’ of the Battle of Britain, but there were, apparently seven built.

Those who suspect I’ve an endless interest in out of the way knowledge would have this confirmed by the books from Mrs JDK on the history of the screwdriver by a great Canadian architect turned writer, and de Botton’s Architecture of Happiness – a book that ought to be required reading for architects, but is a very interesting semi-philosophical work on its own merits. Yes, I’d read a library copy…

As to the time-zone question, I have six clocks on my Mac’s widgets desktop, and I refer to most of them several times a week. This is rather useful otherwise. For my Pommie friends, just remember we are ahead of you in time and The Ashes. :p

Ah well, back to work now.

Cheers,

Hope it is a good day – or was a good day if I’ve got the time zones muddled
