And I thought it was something high-tech!

Was reading the local (free) newspaper this morning when I noticed the TV-listings for tonight. National Geographic is showing a documentary about the Dambusters. I do think though that the guy who wrote the description hasn’t really seen it himself….. or is it that some people just don’t get it??

Anyway, here’s what it says:

In the spring of 1943 a squadron of Lancasters breached two large dams deep in Germany using a spinning garbage can filled with explosives.

😮 🙁

The RAF wouldn’t use a ‘garbage can’ or a ‘trash can’. It’d be a ‘bin’!

Presumably the self-service version of the ‘wheely bin’ – a ‘bouncy bin’.

Isn’t that Ted Rogers’ pal? 😉

Nothing to do with this thread, but regarding JDK’s signature.
I know you lot did a great job of training and re-educating our tame Yank, but are you sure he didn’t say “airplanes”?

Maybe the writer of that comment knows more than you do? Or possibly it was meant as a joke!

That’s British ingenuity for you 😉

The jet engine was really just a guy who’d eaten too many cans of beans stuffed into a tube, too 😉
