And the worst songs this year?

Just thought i’d ask. My choices are:

1: The Ketchup song – novelty record which isnt even funny
2: One Love(blue) Boyband who actually make Westlife sound good
3: And for the Grace of God – The manics have toally lost it.

Anyone?

SAAB – Completely agree with everything you’ve said above.
Michelle Branch is another that fits into the same category, she writes her songs, sings and plays the guitar in them. She hasn’t been that much of a success in the UK which I just cannot understand at all!

Yeah but Studio Brussels remains the only decent radio-station in the Low countries. At least one public enterprise that is making profits.

RE: And the worst songs this year?

Dan330, the Austin Powers singer was Biance Noel singing Work It Out. She is lead singer with Destiny’s Child.

With regards to Avril Lavigne, her music is good. She defies what is common practice with singers these days and writes her own songs. She has also changed what we consider as pop and added a rock influence to it.

The way she dresses is also setting her apart from your average Britney or Christina. When Britney Spears donned her school uniform for the video of Baby One More Time she established that young female artists should never be knowingly overdressed. Yet Avril Lavigne wears skatepunk gear, a huge different to others in her class.

The music industry is full of attractive yet talentless people. Lavigne is different and proof that you can be attractive, yet not have to sell your body and also can sing.

Avril Lavigne makes a welcome change in the pop music business and I hope she sticks here for a long time.

The likes of Pete Waterman and Simon Cowell, thats what’s happening!!

They should bring back the death penalty for people like them, then charge them with “the first degree murder if real music”

Long live Virgin radio

RE: And the worst songs this year?

mixtec – You have to be joking about Avril Levigne!!! Her albums great!

Mine has to be either the one by that woman from Austin Powers where she screams trough it or the Darren Hayes one that is just so annouying and horrible, insaciable (spelling?) or whatever.

Holly Valance is another, shes got a pretty face and her videos tend to be pretty good, but her songs are crap!

Benjamin, you listen too much to Studio Brussels… that song is played at least three times an hour on that station! SB going further down the drain… they nowadays even play R´n´B where they used to surprise you with fun stuff like Eisbär or something else equally cool.

RE: And the worst songs this year?

In the UK, where I live, I would say that most of what passes for popular music (which you hear in shops and some restaurants for instance) is utter rubbish. Bland, samey and soulless.

In France, the problem is that there’s a wave of crap pop singrs and bands which are just as bad as their UK and US counterparts. There are some interesting singers, who do sing lyrics which actually have some meaning, but they do not seem to stretch their talents so far as to sing hamoniously. They warble and scream like a herd of frightened goats. Thing is, if you are brought up on this kind of music, you won’t mind. Hence (qute aside from the question of the language barrier) the only possible outlet is the unfortunate French-speaking countries.

Well Ketchup Song. It´s brilliant as soft summer song. It´s not a classical composition. I suppose the song has to have something brilliant, because being a non-english/american has been able to climb the first posts at the charts. Specially after coming for such “an underdeveloped country like Spain”. Come on, let´s us from time to time, to enjoy a bit of international success.

RE: And the worst songs this year?

I like the Ketchup Song and think the Manic Street Preachers are great – I’m going to see them at Wembley next month.

I do dislike all these manufactured bands i.e. the now “defunct” Hear’say and Will Young, Gareth Gates etc.

With bands like Westlife, even though I’m not a fan, give them credit, they have been around for quite some time.
