And Today's Mystery Object Is…

How about today’s mystery object?
It was, I am assured, recovered from Norway, when the Jet Age boys went there to recover the Gladiator N5914 bits.
The object has numerous AID stamps; a BD Inspection Stamp and Z prefix part numbers. It looks like some type of flying surfaces control mechanism that has a slightly curved mounting block that follows the assumed lower curvature of an airframe fuselage
The 50A stamping is supposedly referring to Aircraft Gun Turrets… but it would have to be an enormous turret to accept this particular bit of kit… it’s about 3 1/2 feet long and weighs in at about 50 lbs.
This stamping I suggest is a red herring and refers to some long-forgotten AID reference.

Nice find! I’m looking for a seat for this type of turret if you know of any spares.

Here’s a pic of the Bolingbroke twin .303 gun cradle mount.

Further to the pics of the Blenheim hydraulic pillar for the Bristol BI turret (Post #3); there have been queries as to the gun mounting. The mount itself (see below) appears to be for a single weapon of the Vickers K type.
This would suggest that the pillar was fitted to a short-nosed Blenheim Mk.I aircraft as the Mk.IVs and later were armed with twin.303 Brownings.

Perhaps the Kent BOB Museum wants it for their Blenheim IV?

Thanks for the pointers, Gentlemen. It has been identified as a Bristol B1 Mk.II Hydraulically powered Pillar Mounting for the retractable Mid-Upper turret of a Blenheim Mk. IV…

The original pics were taken horizontally rather than vertically which led to the suggestion that it was some type of flying surfaces control mechanism.
The following pic was found on ebay to positively identify it.
It is, at the moment being soaked in WD40 to attempt to get the linkages moving again… (which will take some time!)… and then it will be up for grabs if anyone is interested.
