I am excited by the imminent return to flight of this C 97G. The website reports engine tests continuing. Is there a date for the first flight?

Of course yes it was Juan Trippe’s name for entire fleet wasn’t it?:)

Um, no! Sikorsky S-40, (even before your time!).

The original “Clippers” weren’t they?

I remember the Panam ones too – even got inside one once.

Yes and that was the last time I too saw the type fly but I was referring to flying on board BOAC Strats a decade or more earlier. Memorable!

Likewise;). I have fond memories of two Strat flights so this would stir the juices once again.
Ah, my last memories were at IAT73 and ’74 when a KC-97L was in the flying display at Greenham Common. Can’t wait for this one to fly and hopefully come to UK.

Well that’s the worry isn’t it?! Mid-70s reasonably fit and well but creaking more and more so you do wonder……….remain optimistic that’s the key!;)

But will that be long enough? 😀
Have to say I’m starting to think along these lines these days.

I’ll live in hope!;)

Its been underway for a very long time, so the old adage ‘When its done’, is probably the best one.

Have to say that if I ever see this happen it will be a massive tick on the list of types that I’ve always wanted to see fly.!
