Thursday the 17th of september the 65th commemorations of the battle of Arnhem started.
That day 2 new memorials were unveiled:
One for the casualties of the bomb raid on Ede on 17 september 1944 (prior to the airborne landings):
and a glider memorial at the landingzones at Wolfheze:

Gathering at the Schoonoord Pub at Oosterbeek:

Veteran of the Battle who was staying with us: Arthur ‘Alf’ Bone. Dakota pilot with 271 squadron at Down Ampney. He towed 2 gliders to the Arhem Battlefields and did one resupply mission as well. Now 87, it was his first time to come back to Arnhem since the war.
