Another Airbus testing incident

Incident during an acceptance flight

During a customer acceptance flight of an A330 (MSN883) to Air Mauritius, the aircraft experienced a decompression during cruise. Normal procedures were applied and the aircraft descended as swiftly as possible.
At the time of the incident, ten persons were on board, of whom 6 from Air Mauritius, 3 from Airbus and one from a supplier.
During the event, the three pilots in the cockpit used their oxygen masks.

The remaining seven persons had no immediate access to oxygen masks and became temporarily unconscious. All seven have been taken to hospital for treatment or as a precautionary measure. It is expected that five will be released tonight and two will remain overnight for observation.

Airbus is providing all necessary assistance to the concerned persons and their families.

An investigation has started under the responsibility of the Bureau d’Enquêtes et d’Analyses.

That is outrageous! An acceptance flight too. Next week that aeroplane will/could be full of pax. Are there 7 passengers that won’t be able to have access?

What a ridiculous question, of course there won’t be seven passengers with no access to emergency oxygen, no aircraft would be allowed to – legally – perform a revenue flight with seats not served by emergency oxygen masks, if some masks were not operative they would be inhibited and the seats taped off to stop them being used i would have thought. According to another forum the passengers were most likely hurt due to not being in their seats when the crew performed an emergency descent, possibly they were hurt/knocked unconscious and could not access the deployed oxygen masks in time, there is no mention anywhere of there being NO emergency oxygen available.
