After an amazing series, as a good Aussie I have a couple of debts to pay, to Andy in Beds and EN830, who were prepared to risk a fiver on England at the start and at the stage of the third test respectively.
Good for them, you may say, collecting on an outside chance. (England was quoted at some stupid odds at the Series start) but what has this got to do with vintage aviation?
Well Andy (bless his little cotton socks) asked me to donate the fiver “to the Charity of my choice” and I thought hard about this and decided it had to go to a great British institution – The Shuttleworth Collection.
Ian was also happy with the idea, so I’m donating two fivers (Andy and Ian’s winnings) plus I’ll match it (it’s for charidee dahling) to make a twenty quid donation to the Shuttleworth Veteran Aeroplane Society, on top of my renewal as a member of that fine institution. It seems a drop in the ocean, but every little counts, and to a great place too. And good for Ian and Andy not wanting to drink away their winnings.
Another result by Vaughn’s boys. 😀
I wonder if anyone would like to match this with a donation to SVAS themselves?

All Tapped out James – $500 to the Lincoln – has everybody else given ? Makes more sense than the Vulcan to me.

😡
Stormbird – the Ashes chat thread is over on GD. By way of apology, for taking the thread off topic, you might like to donate some cash to Shuttleworth, or if you like to make it local, Moorabbin.
Both Robbo and Mike are regular contributors to Old Warden, so they are off the hook, and Ian’s taken the spirit of this fundraising thread as intended.
Anyone else who might like to donate something to the SVAS? And if they don’t gain your favour, donations to other worthy historic aviation charities would be just as acceptable.

Thank you!

Not another Spitfire thread! 😡
Where you are surely that should be Sea Fury 😉

I just popped in to see whether things had improved.
Of course not, but we can hope. I guess unless we introduce some reference to Hysteric Aviation this thread will be consigned to GD by the Stasi !!!

I’ve just spent forty quid on cleaning materials for the forthcoming “Chain-gang” season, does that count?
I thought you were in exile ????
Has this outlay got anything to do with us whooping the ozzies arses ?????
By: EN830 - 13th September 2005 at 22:01
Well to show that I was not going to take that Ozzies money that easily, though it was like taking sweets from a baby. I’ll chuck a tenner to The Shuttleworth Collection in celebration of a monumentous victory.
