I was stunned to learn this news – this is a quote I once read and saved because it is so true –

“For me, race car drivers are the greatest athletes that ever lived. They symbolize passion, patience, endurance and most of all heart, the heart to succeed and give it their best in every race. The racing community will miss you and will never forget a champion like you. May God always bless and guide you, your family and your fans. Thanks for the memories.”

RIP Peter – you were a great ambassador for your sport.

the peter brock that just died was not the pete brock that designed the daytona coupe but an aussie racing legend…ironicley he was killed in a daytona replica built in australia 🙁

Boy, am I embarrased! I saw that he was driving a Daytona…so another case of 1+1 + 3. 😮

Still, my I offer my condolences as racing drivers are a special breed.

To paraphrase Hemmingway…Racing and bullfighting are the only real sports…everything else is just a game.

Damn it to HELL, Another one gone!

What another HUGE shock 😮 ! 🙁

He has/had been a racing hero to me since I was about 5/6 year’s old, when they stuck me in front of tele, to keep me quiet I guess, and I watched nearly 6 hour’s of Bathurst MADDNESS(twas like smash up derby) for the first time 😎 .

And I still am hooked on the yearly Bathurst fix even now!

The King of the Mountain, is no more,

Rest in Peace Peter perfect mate.

Brocky the legend of your life, will live on I’m sure.

As I think at least one of his son’s race’s car’s

Let’s try and forget the bad publicity, that Peter’s later life attracked here in Oz.

To me, as I did get to shake his hand one day at Calder Raceway, and got his autograph on me Holden hat, he was a real down to earth, funny gentleman.

Who I can still see him now behind the wheel in my mind, in A Holden GTR-Xu1, SLR, A9X, and them Condomodore’s hurtling down Conrod strait at great speed :dev2: .

Another great Aussie who died in his office so to speak 🙁 .

RIP Brocky mate.

If this thing is comming in 3’s, let hope the next Aussie to drop is a less well liked one.

My vote is in for John Howard! :diablo: .

A real shock and shame.
Brock was a legend in international motorsports.
His design of the Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe is a masterpiece. I’m thrilled that it’s currently in series production at long last (a neighbor has one which I occasionally catch sight of). Hopefully it will be a lasting tribute to his genius.

Condolences to his family, friends and fans around the world.
