And I think one or two feature in museum(s) in other parts of the world. Belgrade for example.

Will one be saved for a museum (Middle Wallop)?
Anyway should this Pheonix be allowed to rise from the ashes?
They’ve just opened an extension to the museum there so I can’t see why not!

Phoenix! I say again, how do you define historic?!
historic
Adjective
important in history, or likely to be seen as important in the future
USAGE: A distinction is usually made between historic (important, significant) and historical (pertaining to history): a historic decision; a historical perspective.
Phoenix didn’t first fly until ’86, it was so bad that only a handful were in service by the time of Kosovo, and is long overdue its booting out of service.

And has it just been retired from the British military… Like Army or Navy?… Was it flying up until it’s retirement?
You were getting there…..but I’m afraid I just don’t know when the last one flew, training or otherwise.
Or a UAV, Jindivik if that was still flying?
UAV? So close!
Gotcha!
Bingo! Well done Carpetbagger!

Jaguar and Tornado ar multinational aircraft. The only British fast jet is the Hawk, and that’s got years to go. I reckon it must be something civilian or a transport aircraft. ‘No idea though!

Phoenix UAV
Gotcha!
Phoenix officially goes out of service on 31 March 2008, to be replaced by the WATCHKEEPER system in 2010. During the interim between Phoenix and WATCHKEEPER the Lydian Hermes 450 System will be used and is currently operating in both Iraq and Afghanistan.

Bassett
Andover
BAC 1-11
Unless its rotary wing, I was thinking of a Wessex but maybe thats been out of service for a while.

Another clue…..you wouldn’t find on the RAF website but it did see British military service!

after trawling the Raf Website, it seems that none of the listed aircraft are due for immediate retirement,
another clue perhaps? 🙂
By: VX927 - 12th May 2008 at 14:06
Is it an aircraft that was flying up until 31st March 2008, or has it ended it’s days an an instructional airframe?
By: topgun regect - 12th May 2008 at 14:04
