Another Corsair Gathering?

CrazyMainer says he heard that there was going to be another Corsair Gathering in Dallas later this year, so I did some checking around and found out this from my friend Richard Atkins at Vought: They are trying to organize a Corsair Pilots Fly-in (their choice of wording is interesting) sometime in 2005 but nothing is set in stone…they apparently plan on holding it at Dallas’ s Love Field at a new museum there, or at the Cavanaugh Flight Museum near Addison, but have not decided on which yet…they cannot hold it at the Dallas/Vought factory itself as the Vought runways have been shut down for years now since Vought no longer manufactures aircraft per se, only major subsystems…More on all of this as it develops, but here’s hoping we do better than we did at the Corsair Gathering in 2002, when only 7 of a hoped for 25 Corsairs showed up…and it was’nt due to a alck of trying on Mint Moore’s part to get them all their…I have to say I was dissappointed with the Corsair owners themselves for not trying harder to get all of these beautiful planes together….there seemed to be a somewhat lackadaisical (sp?) attitude on the part of the Corsair owners despite the way everyone bent over backwards for them to get them to attend…and in Britain at the same time, without even really trying, you guys got together 5 Corsairs at Legends that year, as I recall.

Hey Mark,

I know that three of the Corsair that were going to come got weather and atleast two broke down with in a week of the Gathering. Lets hope if they can pull this one off that we can get atleast 10 their, Christ I think there ten in the South Western part of the States alone.

I’ll see if I can get my hands on the Corsair Video your looking for. Oh by the way did you know I’m working on a book on Corsair Operations with Foreign Countrys. I’ve got the chapter on the French and NZ done right now working on the Argt. section

Do you know Rob Mears, great sorce for stuff.
