Pulled up on the car park and realised the new cold war hangar is a master of camoflague. Less than 100 yds away and could not see it!!!

Managed to get a decent photo of the Comet indoors. I have taken this shot loads of time outside, but it never seemed to work. I like this one. Currently cleaning still. Need to use a cherry picker to clean the fuselage over the wings as they are not allowed to stand on them. Apparently, the corrosion is very extensive although not immediately visible (not the wings necessarily, just overall). As regards the move indoors, she apparently rolled really well with no problems. Amazing considering how long she had been left outside. I was told the biggest ‘move’ worry was when they were moving the Belfast to the Cold War Hangar, as there is a severe crack in the undercarriage.

With reference to another thread, the maintenance crew are unable to work in the main cabin, as they are waiting for radiation checks to be taken. (I was told this by a luminous two headed ex-comet pilot 😉 )
The Varsity will not be inside until January, as a pre-arranged “function” is being held in hangar 1 where the Varsity will be sited.
Managed to get some decent pics of the Hurricane and Spit as the doors to hangar 3 were open and let in loads of natural light. Shop was closed and resited temporarily to hangar 1, why I do not know as I failed to ask. All in all a good day although somewhat grey. What a way to hide a building!!!!
New hangar is due to open Feb 8th with official opening the day before.
Scrounge mode initiated 😀

The last ever Comet flight was 31st October 1997 when XS235/G-CPDA Canopus flew from Boscombe Down to Bruntingthorpe.

a couple of nice piccues. Particularly like the Comet photo, such a lovely looking aircraft — would love to see one of those flying again!! Aside : when was the last Comet flight??
I believe the last flight was when the example arrived at Bruntingthorpe.
