The other night enjoyed another Summer evening at Stansted in my new found favourite photography location. I wasn’t so lucky this time with the logojets, but I was treated to a few other nice aircraft.
Ones to note:
Germania 737 working for AB.
Flyglobespan’s newest 757, first shot of her wearing GSM livery.
Air Italy 737 (shown in another thread)
Air Malta (they usually arrive far too late to catch them in the light – this one was a close call with sunset)
Israeli Challenger
Central Wings 737, this one usually arrives earlier in the afternoon when heathaze is terrible and I’m in 6th form!
The KTHY was also a lucky catch, the last shot of the day 30 seconds or so before the Sun disappeared.
All taken with a Canon 400D + Sigma 50-500 DG lense. In no particular order

Hi mate, great photos!
I take it the place you took the shots from is only good in the evening?
…and is there somewhere to park a car? Thanks!
Sorry, missed this reply after a very busy week! Yes the Sun is only good around the evening. You can start taking good shots around 4pm, but it isn’t really good til around 5-6pm.
There is about a 300 yard hedgerow running along the road where people stand, with plenty of room to park cars along the edge of the road!

Thanks for the kind comments guys, much appreciated!
Alex answered Peter’s question about the lcoation nicely.
I’m afraid there is abolustely no public transport in sight. This spot isn’t even near a village or town at all, the closest you’ll get is the long stay car park and then it is still a good 3 mile walk along a 60mph (with most cars doing 80mph) narrow country road!

Is it necessary to have a car to get round to the vantage point ? Or is
there public transport that takes you some of the way (like close enough to walk the rest comfortably) ?Woody

Peter,
If you go all the way round the airport perimeter and work your way to Belmer Road, you’ll find a load of cars parked on the airport side of the road.
You can park there, and then walk south along the fence line, until you see a huge mound of earth, and you’re sorted. 😉 You shouldn’t get any hassle either.
Great pics BTW.

Excellent set of piccies. Looks like an excellent spot you have found there. How do you get to/access the spot? -any problems with the authorities?
Cheers,
Peter

Cheers guys, much appreciated! Really looking forward to your eve at STN now Paul?! Should be a good’un….the light should also stay out long enough to catch the UPS 767’s moving (for about 2 weeks of the year sunset is late enough to catch one depart and one arrive….the rest of the year you’ll never see them move).
