Harriers & Tornadoes – Flying the Fast Jets

The latest in the South Yorkshire Aircraft Museum’s continuing series of aviation and modelling lectures is sure to appeal to all aviation enthusiasts, particularly those with an interest in the fast jets of the Royal Air Force.
Sqn Ldr Jerry Pook returns to Doncaster to relate his experiences flying the Harrier and Tornado.

Jerry had flown Hunters and Starfighters before being transferred to flying the world-famous Harrier ‘Jump-Jet’ . He was part of the small contingent of Royal Air Force Harrier pilots deployed to the Falklands in 1982 and flew with great distinction during that conflict, earning the DFC. Jerry’s book Harrier Ground Attack – Falklands is a ‘must have’ for any aviation enthusiast.
After leaving the Harrier force he was converted onto the Tornado GR1 and flew as an instructor with the Tri-national Tornado Training Establishment, at RAF Cottesmore.

Join Jerry for the evening and learn about the RAF’s usage of the Harrier & Tornado, from a pilot’s perspective. Jerry will describe what is like to actually fly these two aircraft and what it is like to find yourself going to war in one…

The date is Saturday 18th October, 2008, with a start time of 7.00 p.m. The venue is the South Yorkshire Aircraft Museum, in Doncaster. Tickets are available priced at £7.50 and it is advisable to pre-book as there is a limit of 55 seats for this event.
