How I missed this I don’t know. The Lancaster Mark X at Calgary Aerospace Museum is under restoration complete with accurate nose art. The Museum is raising funds for her exterior restoration and repainting into correct Bomber Command camoflage. Having toured around and through the interior of this Lancaster, I can say she is in really good condition and to see her finally gain wartime markings and Nose art is truly awsome!

Painted Yellow Circle Lanc seat
Gas indicator was normally a painted triangle on the outside of aircraft, the circle on the seat was possibly to indicate armour plate

Mike, I am not in touch with the Museum but have been through the lanc a couple of times when I was travelling out to work on FM159. Just pleased that this lanc is also getting some attention.

Yes they were from a snug fitting cover on the canopy when she was outside see attached picture..

Comparison with PA474.
Weather cover would be the obvious choice.. a sensible guess… but is there anyone with the proof? (AMM/AP excerpt or first hand use)
