Looks like she is being carefully stripped primed and repainted. Notice the new Black paint near the blister. I tip my hat to them as the last time i saw her was last Aug and the paint was hangin in tatters from the wings.

This is Lancaster FM136 at Calgary Aerospace Museum at Calgary Alberta. It is available for visits but tours of the interior are not on at the moment due to the work to patch the floor in the centre section. One can always enquire as to a lookse inside at the desk .We did and we were awarded with a tour of the interior.
apparently they have also started an aggresive fundraising campaign to have a new building built on site to place the lanc under cover before a complete repaint is undertaken.

Lanc looks great, but please remember when starting a new thread to tell us which aircraft and it’s location. I’m guessing its one of the Canadian Lancs, but where, and is it accessible for visits.

From what i hear she wont be repainted until after a new building is constructed as it would be a wastoe of resources. She has been given a high quality primer instead but who knows this might change
Oi Mike stay on the subject of 136 not Sugar .. LOl (jk)

Good stuff!
Talking of new black paint, what a shame that the bods at Hendon have taken to repainting random bits of S-Sugar in differing shades of black-she’s starting to look a bit sad, which is why I think she should come off display for a full corrosion job/repaint etc. She is, after all, certainly the flagship of the Bomber Hall, and one of THE major attractions for the museum also.
If they’d thought about it a bit, they could have taken her out and off to Cosford or whatever first, and while she was gone, use that time for all the recent aircraft movements that instead, as just detailed in ‘FlyPast’, necessitated her being dragged all over the shop on wheels!
I remember when the Southampton fuselage came in-they took her port outer wing off for that, which at least was fascinating to study at close quarters for a few hours!

That’s very good news.
Are they going to add to the museum in order to store
more of the collection under cover? It would seem a shame
to repaint the Lancaster and leave it exposed to elements.
