Just the day to have a thought to F/O Nicholas Snowdon 117515 , a missing Typhoon pilot . On 16 April 1943 he went missing flying R8834 , 182 Sq , just after having bombed JG2 Triqueville airfield , mission led by S/L Thomas Pugh . In fact shot down by a german fighter , his plane crashed in a pasture near Le Havre which remained undisturbed since WW2 . Nothing was done then to recover both plane and pilot , I just wonder if the MREU had investigated that case after the war . The next-of-kin will have the last word regarding the recovery , but I’m still expecting news from John Snowdon if ever …

Firstly apologies for not being too computer literate !! I sent a private message to Penrithlad re his Uncle Nick Snowden. I have not received a reply as yet. My Mother gave me a list of names to research, one of those being Nick Snowden. He was due to be My Mum and Dad’s best man but didn’t return, the wedding was postponed and Bill Hoggard agreed to take over, he crashed ever the Channel and was never found, finally Jim Caterer stepped in and not long after he was killed in Northern France….sad times ! My Father was a flying instructor at Cranage and survived the war, he died aged 70. My Mother was a plotter and is now 92. Nick and my Father were good friends, he stayed with my Father in Bradford as he didn’t have time to get home to Penrith on a 24hr leave. My Mother has many memories and photographs if they are of any interest. My Father was George Green and Mother Betty Kershaw.
