Sounds great. With the dues paid by both Mosquitos and P-38s in the role of surveyer ships post- war, it would be fitting if someone would recognize it by displaying one of the type as it looked in those early years.

TJ–

Spartan colours probably will be seen on a restored Mossie before all that long…the Calgary museum’s example is slated for static display restoration soon and at last word the plan was for her to wear Spartan livery. She’s a B.35 identical to Mr Jens’ Mossie. (The Spitfire Mr Jens owns is TZ138/C-GSPT, once Cleveland racer CF-GMZ and before that a cold-weather test aircraft with the Winter Experimental Establishment fleet in northern Alberta, so has a significant–if oddball–Canadian history. She is kept pristine but unflown at Vancouver, and the Mossie is said to be joining her there. The prospect of VR796 and KA114 together existed briefly, during plans for an airshow that were ongoing before the Yagen collection went up for sale last summer. It will almost certainly not now happen, since that show is not still planned, and Mr Jens’ Mossie will likely have been flown then grounded before Mr Yagen’s Mossie takes to the air again…pity all round!)

Spartan colors, now that would have been something to see.

Nice images.

When I worked in YVR I would occasionally pop in to have a look at HML.

I did up a couple of computer generated images of what she might have looked like in her days at Spartan.

Hi All,
I’ll have to be honest I don’t like the gloss finish makes it look plastic but each to their own, am I the only one who noticed that the bomb aimers central window had an extra thick edged unlike most others or is that because of the model of the type ? Lets just hope the owner decides to fly more often than his other aircraft.

Even if it only flies a couple of times, let’s hope the conditions in which it is hangared allow the potential to be restored to airworthy condition, in later years.

Well done to the owner.

It would be great if one of those flights was with KA114 🙂

Unfortunately , the rumour over here is that the aircraft will only be allowed one or two flights then it is to be preserved by the owner.
His current aircraft are hardly ever seen in the light of day or flying and apparently the Mosquito will go the same route

Stunning ! I actually like it in gloss finish for some reason.
Wel done to all concerned for this projects restoration really began at the beginning by being saved.

Lovely little piece and interviews with the veterans. Just on a minor point, why the high gloss finish?

Longevity?
