This particular Mustang is one of those few surviving original (not made-up/not a data-plate rebuild) WWII combat-vets – it was assigned to the 318th Fighter Squadron, 325th Fighter Group “Checkertail Clan”, flown by 2nd Lt. A.S. Hall with the fuselage number 60. It is perhaps most well known for its years based in Canada as CF-FUZ, painted black. http://www.mustangsmustangs.com/p-51/survivors/serial/44-63889
The aircraft, when based in South Africa (where it was last), sported the aircraft’s original wartime paint scheme for a short time, before being repainted into the pseudo 352nd FG markings it currently has had since 2013.
There are now seven flying P-51’s based in Germany…”44-72811″, “A68-100”, “Dream Girl”, “Little-ite”, “Louisiana Kid”, “See Me Later” and “Queen of Hearts”.
