Another mystery object

Any ideas as to what this is? It doesn’t look very aeronautical, but I’m pretty sure it is RAF. Certainly, it has a military arrow on it, but the number beside it means nothing to me. There are a number of valves inside, but no other clue as to use or function. Over to you guys and any suggestions very welcome!
