Another passes on

Wing Commander Bunny Currant, DFC*, who flew R4118 in the Battle, has died. Full obituary in the Telegraph

“The remains of a Hurricane that he flew during his time on No 605 were found in India some 50 years later and restored to flying condition. It will fly in salute at his memorial service.”

Worth noting that by BoB standards he was an old man – he was 29 at the outbreak of the Battle, having served in the RAF for four years. He was commissioned in April 1940 and on November 1st was made acting squadron CO – that’s fast, even by wartime standards.
