T-33s have lived in peaceful retirement for years, then two are ‘crashed’ in a week!
”Nearly 50 years after it last took flight, a U.S. Air Force plane had its first crash Monday while on display at the Stoughton VFW.
The 1962 T-33 had a long and successful career in cadet training and cross-country missions before it was retired in 1976. It has been on display at the VFW Post 328 in Stoughton since the late 1970s.
But at around 5:20 p.m. Monday, the craft was damaged when a semi struck it while turning in the parking lot. The truck then sped off. VFW Commander Rob Drogsvold was inside the building at the time but didn’t see or hear the crash. Dave Langston, who lives across the street, witnessed the crash, took a photo of the truck’s license plate and reported the incident to Drogsvold and Stoughton police.

There are probably hundreds out there on display. Still, I hate to see this happen. The AC looks to be in better shape than many.
The T-33 is so ubiquitous, we take it for granted. It was the most successful and widely used first generation jet trainer….used by just about every Western nation except the UK (and its satellites).

That’s a weird coincidence. What a shame.

Or is it a conspiracy to wipe the T33 off the earth? 😉

That at least looks more fixable. But how funny that two should happen in quick succession!
