Another propeller query

Was at a local Manor House for a golden wedding celebration, it’s a walkers type of hotel on the coast, in the dining room there are two large wooden props on the wall, stamped into the side of the mounting boss is DRG AM 1697. DIA 8′-6′. 94006 ( probably s/no). 8 mounting holes 2 blade with square tips, straight leading and trailing edges and seems to have no twist in the blades.any ideas?

They seem to have bona fide stampings. They might be test clubs. These could be quite large but with cropped, square tips and parallel sides, usually finished in schwarz/rotoloid black covering. Not sure about the lack of twist, though; there should be some, even on a test club.

Edit: just re-read your post, sticky, and note you mention they are two-blade, not four. Test clubs are almost always four-blade to provide the maximum amount of blade drag for the minimum diameter commensurate with the power to be absorbed so that’s pretty much scotched that one.

Need that photo…

You didn’t, or couldn’t, get some pics then, Sticky? That would help.

To my inexperienced eye it did not seem to be a mock up, tho there appeared to be no fitting marks/damage around the mounting holes, also the leading edges had erosion shields nailed on.

They’re either mocked-up propellers or very, very old. Only the earliest props were built without twist.
